It was on the eight inning when the controversial infield-fly rule was called by umpire Sam Holbrook against the Cardinals NL Wild Card 2012. Fans went wild and started throwing bottle on the field.

When I played baseball... that was considered a BASE HIT! WTF is going on?!?! Sports SUCK these days! This new infield fly rule has just caused me to boycott and stop watching baseball, period.

We are just going to have to disagree. I don't believe that a rule should be ignored simply because someone thinks it doesn't matter.

Seattle Seahawks fans agree that it was a good call.

Also I was sitting about where it landed a good 20 feet into left field.

I don't know why I'm wasting my time, but here goes: It's not about the geographic location of the players, (who could be an outfielder positioned in the infield!), but whether they are in a position to intentionally allow a fly ball to drop, pick it up, and turn a double play on the lead runners. The rule was created to prevent this and only this. If the possibility of THIS doesn't exist, then the ball should not be declared an Infield Fly. Some IF aren't caught since they should be called ASAP

After chatting with volatile Indiana basketball coach Bob Knight before a game against the Braves, McGwire is ejected by rookie umpire Sam Holbrook in the first inning for arguing a called third strike. Fans at Busch Stadium show their displeasure by showering the field with trash and assorted knickknacks.
"Stay Classy, Atlanta"?
Na, we're just following by example.

1) Watch video. 2) Stop video after runners advance. 3) Ask yourself: Would the Cardinals have protested that an Infield Fly should have been called? 4) Absolutely not! They would've been denounced by every other team in baseball.
THIS WAS NOT, AND NEVER SHOULD BE, AN INFIELD FLY! No team would want to establish the precedent of this being called an infield fly because they would most likely suffer the same consequence and it's just NOT baseball! It's umpire's POOR judgement.

I'm glad I didn't play in your game, who knows what you would call because you decided a certain rule didn't apply. Again, show me in the rule (the rules are the part that you are supposed to enforce) where it says the infielder has to be in the infield. If the cards SS was 2 feet closer would you have called it? 5 feet? 25? where do you draw your arbitrary line?
